Tips for landing a job

There are a few things a teenagers can do to improve their chances of landing the perfect job, Career Coach Chris Cross said.

To get the job, you must have “confidence within yourself” to make the right impression when being interviewed, Cross said.

Student Eric Watson said you need to have a good appearance, whether it’s in how you dress or how you speak.

All of that is necessary to make a good first impression, according to teacher Ms. Kena Gibson.

Gibson said good “eye contact” and “firm handshake” are a good start. You can talk with your hands, but not in a distracting way, she said. With that student Alexis Boose said it’s important to be yourself.

Gibson said it’s also important to understand the job you’re applying for.

“t would be helpful if you do some research about the job, understand the personality you could bring into the company to make it better, and what are your strengths that fit the job,” Gibson said.

Cross said you must have interpersonal skills to relate and strong communication skills when asked questions. Watson had a different, but simple idea to prepare yourself .

“You must speak clearly and not to be shy,” she said.
